VENDERICK’S HEALING PAW
Wildlife Rehabilitation
My name is Brittany, I am a homebased licensed wildlife rehabber. I am also the owner of Venderick's Healing Paw a 501c3 nonprofit organization in Dayville CT. We serve the wildlife of Northeastern CT and are dedicated to rescuing injured and/or orphaned wildlife. Our goal is to give them a second chance they wouldn't have otherwise had at a life in the wild.

ABOUT US
Here at Venderick’s Healing Paw, we are driven to do our part in making the world a better place for our wildlife. Since 2021, we have taken part in rescuing, rehabbing, raising, and releasing wildlife back into the wild. We strive to help as many animals as possible and getting them back to their natural habit where they belong.

OUR STORY
Why did I become a rehabber?
I had always planned to become a rehabber but wanted to wait until I retired (yes I know I am a ways away from retirement age) but that was the plan. That was until my cat Venderick passed away in 2020 in the middle of a pandemic. At which point my whole mindset shifted. Why am I waiting? Life is short.
A little background on my sweet Venderick
He was born under my front stoop. He and his two siblings were abandoned by their mom at 3 weeks old. They were fighting an awful respiratory infection when we found them and sadly one sibling did not make it. But my husband and I bottle fed and raised the two remaining. Venderick was my little buddy and my whole heart from day one; he and I just formed a special bond instantly. Unlike any other bond I have had with any other pet; it was just different with him. But he passed very suddenly a few years back at 6 years old due to an unknown heart issue/blood clot. I was not able to save him so I chose to honor him by trying to save others. Now, thats not new for us, we have always been the house for the unwanted, the abandoned, the misfits, and those who happen to find us along the way. So we have always rescued in one way or another. But long story short he was my reason for diving into wildlife rehab now rather then continuing to wait.
WAYS WE HELP
Furthering our cause is the most important goal of our organization. We seek to provide education to the community. Spreading awareness of the mission of wildlife rehabilitation, what to do if you find an injured or orphaned animal, recruiting future rehabbers, and helping conserve habitats and the wildlife that reside in them.

WAYS TO DONATE
Wildlife Rehabbers are licensed volunteers. They are not paid or reimbursed by any government agency. All expenses come from their own pockets and it gets very expensive. We rely on generous donations from animal lovers like you to help us care for our wildlife.
